Miami Beach’s famous Concord Cafeteria, 1921 Collins Avenue, in October 1981. The building now houses Mynt and Rok Bar (notice the Townhouse Hotel sign).
On Feburary 2, 1973, 49-year old Bal Harbour resident Charles Reardon walked into the Concord at 10:45 PM and hurled a firebomb, injuring 139 people. Reardon was declared insane and incompetent to stand trial and was committed to a mental hospital.
The Concord reopened three months later and regained its reputation as one of Miami’s most popular cafeterias, before finally closing in 1983.
